Rationale

LAE 10 is often quite challenging to teach and therefore are not highly sought after within the English department. As a result, it is often new teachers who are tasked with teaching this course, many of whom do not have an English language instruction background. This website aims to support teachers, particularly with the redesigned LAE 10 being run for the first time in September 2018. In-person support will also be offered through collaborative after-school working sessions.

This website is meant to be an extension of those in person working sessions and is designed to help teachers as and when they need it from wherever they want to access and engage with the material. As noted above, online learning networks or communities can provide valuable support to teachers. Further, professional learning groups can help teachers integrate TPACK into their practice. Kale, Brush and Saye (2009) note that the most meaningful way to engage teachers is through the use of reflective prompts and questions. While this website is also designed to provide informative materials, extra care will be made to ensure encouraging teacher reflectivity is present throughout.
